The current Poweshiek County  Treasurer is Lana C. Taylor. Lana was first elected to office on October 12, 1999 to fill an unfinished 3 1/2 year term left vacant by the previous treasurer's resignation. While holding office at the county level, Lana has served the Iowa State County Treasurer's Association in all offices of the executive level including President from November 2003 until November 2004. The treasurer currently holds a chair on the Iowa State Association of Counties "County Administration and Organization Steering Committee".

The county treasurer’s office serves the public in matters of property tax, motor vehicle title and registration, driver’s license, and non-driver identifications. The treasurer’s office has two locations, Montezuma and Grinnell. While the office in Montezuma is a full service facility located on the main floor of the Poweshiek County Courthouse, the Grinnell facility located at the Park Street entrance of the Grinnell city office complex is open every Wednesday and is there primarily to serve the most basic functions related to the issuance of Iowa Driver’s License and non-driver identification cards.

Other duties of the county treasurer include:

MONTEZUMA - COURTHOUSE Ground level - 302 E. Main St.

For convenience use the Liberty St. entrance (South door) and take the stairs or elevator  to the “ Ground level”. 

  • Open Monday-Tuesday-Thursday-Friday
    8:00 to 11:30 (closed for lunch) 12:30 to 4:00
  • No testing will be initiated after 3:00pm
  • Regular car drives are available on a first come basis.

GRINNELL - COMMUNITY CENTER - 927 4TH AVE.

  • No testing will be initiated after 3:00pm
  • Regular car drives are available by appointment only. Please call the Montezuma station 623-3101 on M.T.Th.or F. We will be happy to assist you in scheduling your drive.

Poweshiek County does not offer motorcycle skills or commercial driver testing.
